If you are an internet junkie like me, you might ask, “Do printed newspapers still exist?” Yes, newspapers do still exist and companies still place job postings in the employment section.
Although some folks may feel like it’s an archaic way to search for a job nowadays, newspapers are still important when it comes to your job search because not all companies take advantage of the internet when it comes to posting their job openings. Yes, even in this day and age, some companies still do it the old fashioned way and only place their ads in the employment section of their local newspapers.
The good news for us internet junkies is that many newspapers now have their own web sites and post the same information online as they do in their printed versions. So if you enjoy getting your news online and surfing the net, make sure to check out which of your local newspapers post their papers online. Whether or not you use the online version or the printed version, newspapers can be a wonderful resource for your job search, because it could very well be the only place a company advertises their job postings. And we are in the business of leaving no stone unturned in our quest for that job.
When you are feeling unhappy with work and you take time to assess the various aspects of you, your life and career, you may very well find that you are quite happy with your career but for whatever reason, need a new job.
There are various reasons for needing to change jobs. Typical examples are having a boss that is very difficult to work for, you’ve lost your job due to downsizing, the commute to your job is taking its toll on you, the pay is too low, there is not much room for advancement within the company, you don’t feel stretched or you have new family priorities and need to cut back your hours.
Whatever the reason, if you decide you need to find a new job within your current career, there are many options available to you when it comes to finding a new job. You can either take the modern route and look into the various job search sites available through the internet, get leads through your various networking groups, sign up with a recruiting agency, or do it the trusty, old-fashioned way and search through the employment section of your local newspaper.
